If you're looking for a way to get your little ghouls ready for Halloween, head over to the Austin Symphony Orchestra's annual at Long Center's Dell Hall on October 20. This year's spooktacular feature is "The Composer is Dead," a delightful blend of music and mystery concocted by Nathaniel Stookey and the one and only Lemony Snicket, also known as Daniel Handler. With Pablo Zamora conducting and actor Andre Martin joining in, the orchestra itself becomes part of a whodunit, which is sure to keep the kids on the edge of their seats, or at least off the snack table.
Before the concert kicks off at 3 p.m., there are some seriously fun pre-concert activities starting at 2 p.m. We're talking crafts, games, and an Instrument Petting Zoo where kids can try out the instruments without the fear of harsh judgment from their parents. And hey, why not put on those wacky costumes because there's a Spooktacular Costume Contest where prizes await the most creative little monsters. Just a heads up, if you're planning to join the fun, make sure everyone in your party has a ticket, because even ghosts need to pay their way in.
